It first launched in August of 2007 as Windows Live SkyDrive and is Microsoft’s foray into cloud storage. Microsoft, I've been trying to give you a fair chance - I haven't used Google Drive on this computer for literally months now, but you keep borking your own products over and making your products worse.Microsoft OneDrive is a synchronized file hosting service provided by Microsoft. Which is probably why I use Google Drive instead. OneDrive is a useless, pointless, application for me because a) there's not a way to selectively back up types (back up files, but don't back up my pictures), and b) there's not a way to selectively back up files (back up files in location X but not in location I did that, used CCleaner to delete the startup line, haven't had any problems since, and the applications in question have been deleted so no worries about them starting up again.Īnd, Mike, of course I'm an administrator on my own computer.

I still miss finding the "Location" (as in Win 8.1) option that allows me to put the local copy of OneDrive files onto a secondary store rather than consume the mainĬrazy if a user has more files stored on OneDrive than spare disk space on their local machine and OneDrive sync tries to download local copies (in the background) until the device chokes and dies.įor new installs / updates: kill OneDrive before it kills clients, The folder set to something appropriate for a test machine, I can't get the selection back again.Īt present: uninstall then re-activate is the only way I found to get a fuller options set.
The OneDrive UI in the current build seems to be hacked down to being non-functional.Īfter an "uninstall" and reboot, I re-enabled it by clicking the OneDrive tile (it never went away) and then an icon appeared on the taskbar that provided the options that I couldn't find elsewhere (such as which folders to select).
As noted by now: Right mouse the tile on the Start Menu and select Uninstall to kill it off.
